What is LEED certification?

In the United States and in a number of other countries around the world, LEED certification is the recognized standard for measuring building sustainability. Achieving LEED certification is the best way for you to demonstrate that your building project is truly "green."

The LEED green building rating system -- developed and administered by the U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington D.C.-based, nonprofit coalition of building industry leaders -- is designed to promote design and construction practices that increase profitability while reducing the negative environmental impacts of buildings and improving occupant health and well-being.

State Building Products is developing a greener building practice

At State Building Products, all of our steel is manufactured from cold-formed steel. Steel is 100% recyclable.
Statistics provided by the Steel Recycling Institute (S.R.I.) show that the steel produced by American steel mills have a minimum recycled content of 31%.
Of that 31% , 23% is produced with post - consumer recycled content.
The process used in the basic oxygen furnace (BOF) is the sole process that U.S. steel manufactures utilize to produce light gauge and sheet steel.

At State Building Product Inc. almost 100% of our waste generated in the manufacturing process is recycled. In addition, 60% of light gauge steel disposed of by consumers
is also recycled. Additional information can be verified at SRI's website
(www.recycle-steel.org).
